Como
Summary
Como is a high-grade former producer with significant potential for both vein and large-tonnage bulk-mining. Historical underground production totals about 20,000 ounces of gold and 500,000 ounces of silver with a gold equivalent grade of nearly 0.3 opt. Since the 1960s, several major companies have explored the property including St. Joe American, Amoco, Meridian Gold, Anglo Gold and Amax Gold.
Near the Renowned Comstock Lode
The property lies about eight miles southeast of the famous Comstock Lode. Historically the Comstock mines generated enormous wealth for the U.S. West, producing about 8.4 million ounces of gold and 193 million ounces of silver.
Two Key Targets
Past work has identified two bulk-mineable gold-silver targets requiring further work. Anglo Gold conducted perhaps the most intriguing work on the property in 2000, looking for a multi-million ounce deposit. Although they released the property in 2001, their drilling identified a high-grade vein system that with values of 0.45 opt over a 10-foot width with a thickness ranging from 40 to 70 feet. Surface rock chip samples on this vein have returned values up to 0.417 opt gold.
Our 2007 Program
The Anglo discovery certainly warrants further work, and it's part of our planned program for 2007. In addition to the Anglo discovery, we plan to target a number of other higher-grade systems and surface rock chip samples.
